Worthington Trumpet Teacher Spotlight:
Gavin Newton

Gavin grew up in Zanesville, Ohio, where his passion for music began to take shape during his junior year of high school when he decided to start taking lessons. Influenced by the 80s hair bands of his childhood, his ambition to be a rock star was ignited by the release of Guitar Hero, which led him to join the school band. He particularly enjoys playing the trumpet and flugelhorn and finds great joy in making beautiful and exciting music with friends, mentors, and students. Teaching music is especially rewarding for him, as he loves witnessing his students’ growth and enthusiasm. One of his favorite experiences as a musician was traveling through Europe to perform with friends. Outside of music, Gavin enjoys steak and eggs, playing video games, hiking, and watching “The Breakfast Club.”
