Bexley Violin Instructor Spotlight:
Shiloh Kunselman

Shiloh Kunselman grew up in Columbus, Ohio until age 8, when her family moved to Mount Vernon to raise chickens, turkeys, cows, and pigs—including a pig named Earl! Her love for music began early; inspired by the small orchestra at her church, she was drawn to the violin around age 6 or 7. After some persistent begging, she began violin lessons at age 8 and still remembers the thrill of walking out of Violin Loft with her very first instrument.
Shiloh is a multi-instrumentalist who sings and plays ukulele, piano, violin, viola, and cello—but the violin remains her favorite. She loves its ability to express deep emotion and adapt to a wide range of musical styles. In high school, she realized that music was her true passion and knew she wanted to turn it into a career. Her favorite part of being a musician is the connection and camaraderie that comes from playing with others, whether in a full orchestra or a casual jam session. For Shiloh, creating music together is nothing short of magical.
As a teacher, Shiloh enjoys the challenge of discovering what motivates each student and tailoring lessons to their unique goals. She finds joy in getting to know her students and helping them grow as musicians. When asked about a favorite memory as a performer, she shared:
“I got to play the violin for one of my best friend’s weddings, which was such a special experience. Although I had to walk down the aisle (I was also a bridesmaid) while playing, and I still don’t know how I made it the whole way without falling!”
Outside of music, Shiloh loves Chinese food (she could eat it every day!), hiking with her dog, and traveling with her husband. She’s an avid reader of historical fiction and fantasy, and enjoys creative hobbies like diamond painting and building book nooks. She also loves curling up with a cup of tea and a cozy video game—right now she’s working through the Nancy Drew series. A fan of classic musicals and international cinema, one of her favorite films is the Indian historical epic RRR.
