Teacher of the Month April: Jennifer Simcic

We’re excited to celebrate Jennifer Simcic as our Teacher of the Month! Jennifer grew up in Columbus, Ohio, and her love for music truly took root in high school.

She spent countless hours listening to music and going to concerts with her best friend, experiences that helped her realize music wasn’t just something she enjoyed, but something she wanted to be deeply involved in.

Jennifer’s favorite instrument to play is the guitar, and whether she’s performing or teaching, it remains at the heart of her musical life. She loves performing songs like Mrs. Robinson and Sugaree, and says that walking off a great gig is one of the most inspiring feelings there is, the kind that keeps her practicing and pushing forward.

One of Jennifer’s favorite parts of being a musician is the camaraderie she’s experienced at open mic nights and local venues. There’s something special about sharing the stage, supporting fellow performers, and building community through music.

When it comes to teaching, Jennifer is most inspired by those “click” moments, especially with very young students. Watching a concept finally make sense after repeated exposure is incredibly rewarding. She believes deeply in the importance of giving the next generation the ability to make music, and that passion shines through in every lesson she teaches.

Outside of the studio, Jennifer enjoys spending time in her backyard, which she and her family have been landscaping over the past few years. She also, of course, loves playing guitar in her free time , and is currently excited about learning a new instrument: the mandolin, which she recently received for Christmas.
