Originally from Grandview Heights in Columbus, Ohio, David is a multi-instrumentalist whose journey into music became especially meaningful during an uncertain time in his life.

As David approached his high school graduation in the spring of 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused him to take a closer look at what he truly enjoyed and what gave him a sense of fulfillment. During his first year of college, music continued pulling him in.

“I decided to take a chance and go for it, and it was the best decision of my life,” David shares. “I haven’t looked back since!”

Today, David’s musicianship spans several instruments and styles. Ask him to choose a favorite instrument, and the answer depends on the music he’s playing. For jazz, it’s the trombone. For pop and funk, he gravitates toward the piano, while for worship and church music, his instrument of choice is his voice.

Music is also an important part of David’s life outside of teaching. One of his favorite places to perform is at church, where he says having the opportunity to use his musical talents in worship is a great privilege. One instrument is still on his list to conquer next: bass guitar!

Music That Creates Lasting Memories

For David, some of the most meaningful moments in music have very little to do with a stage or spotlight.

One experience in particular has stayed with him throughout his musical career. David once worked with a client who wanted to surprise his wife for their anniversary by performing one of their favorite songs. Together, they adapted the song with custom lyrics telling the story of how the couple met, fell in love, and began their family.

The project became even more meaningful when the client’s wife was diagnosed with cancer.

Over several months, David helped him prepare for the performance. Their lessons became about far more than notes and technique. They were working toward creating a meaningful moment for an entire family during an incredibly difficult season.

When the day finally came, David accompanied his client as he performed the song for his wife and family in their home.

“It was an incredible experience where we turned a truly tragic situation into an unforgettable, beautiful moment,” David says. “That is why I dedicate my life to music, because moments like that cannot be replicated in any other way.”

It’s an experience David says he will never forget—and one that represents just how powerful music can be.

Inspiring the Musicians of Tomorrow

As a teacher, David draws inspiration from the mentors and fellow musicians he has encountered throughout his career. He especially admires those who have built strong reputations and relationships through professionalism, discipline, consistency, and genuine effort.

Those are qualities he works to bring into his own teaching.

“I love being a part of the musical journey of my students,” David says. “Helping them and working with them to achieve great things is what it’s all about! I feel privileged to help forge the musicians of tomorrow.”

That passion for helping students grow is exactly what makes David such a valued part of the Chambers Music Studio team.

Get to Know David

When he isn’t teaching, performing, or making music, you might find David watching a scary movie or keeping up with the NBA. His current favorite song is “Jireh” by Elevation Worship, and he’s always looking for another way to grow as a musician himself.

We’re grateful to have David as part of the Chambers Music Studio community and proud to recognize him as our Teacher of the Month. Thank you, David, for the care, musicianship, and purpose you bring to your students each day!
